A studio session is always an option! Your photographer probably has some really fun ideas if you are hoping to make it a surprise too.
However, many sessions are planed “on site”. If you are working with a photographer, they will probably have great suggestions for you. And there are lots of things to consider. Photography takes into consideration time of day, sun angle, other people in your shots, and many other options.
Planning a Couple Photo Shoot is loads of fun. I am located outside of Philadelphia in South Jersey and have many spots that are located on private property. I also love a stroll on the Jersey Shore. I have some special spots that are perfect for engagement portraits. And, yes, even a NYC skyline option!

Of course, you might have access to a private space that is special to you both. I was so fortunate to have an “in” at Google Headquarters in Manhattan, NYC. We got to play on their terraces overlooking the Manhattan skyline, in their cafes and lounges.
